Lahore: A ceremony was held in Lahore for the distribution of welfare grant cheques to workers, with Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resource Muhammad Manshaullah Butt attending as the chief guest. Cheques totaling Rs. 21.5 million were distributed among registered workers during the event.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the ceremony was also attended by Commissioner Social Security Zulfiqar Ali Kharal, Director General Labour Welfare Syeda Kulsoom Hai, and Secretary Workers Welfare Fund Dr. Mujtaba Bharwana. It was disclosed that a total of 3,649 cheques amounting to Rs. 380 million are being distributed across Punjab under the categories of Death Grant, Marriage Grant, and Talent Scholarship.

Provincial Minister Butt emphasized the government’s focus on improving the quality of life for workers and their families, stating that numerous initiatives are being undertaken under the guidance of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. He highlighted the pivotal role of workers in the economy and industrial development and reiterated the government’s commitment to their welfare.

Butt further detailed efforts being made to enhance education, health, and future prospects for workers’ children, including the establishment of 73 schools and the provision of scholarships for medical colleges. He also noted the ongoing upgrades to Social Security hospitals, mentioning that the Social Security Hospital in Sialkot has expanded its capacity from 50 to 100 beds.
