Uttar Pradesh Government Orders Eviction of Muslim-Owned Shops

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has issued eviction notices to 12 Muslim shop owners in Sambhal city, demanding that they vacate their premises within 24 hours.

According to a statement by Kashmir Media Service, Indian authorities have claimed that the shops, situated near the historic Thanewali Masjid Mosque, were constructed on encroached government land. The Yogi government has warned that failure to comply with the eviction order will result in the demolition of the shops using bulldozers.

Of the 12 shops identified, 11 owners reportedly pay rent to a mosque located behind the premises. The authorities have stated that all shopkeepers were asked to vacate voluntarily, with a warning that non-compliance would lead to legal action and forced removal.
