Lahore: A United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) delegation visited the Punjab Home Department, engaging in discussions with officials about child protection initiatives. The meeting focused on law and order, child welfare, and measures implemented in the province.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the UNICEF delegation included Sidahmed Abdullah and Muhammad Khalid Irfan, who met with Additional Secretary Foreign National Security Ayesha Mumtaz. The discussions highlighted Punjab’s commitment to child protection, with the province being the first to approve a comprehensive Child Protection Policy. The policy emphasizes shelter, education, healthcare, and legal assistance for children, alongside efforts to combat exploitation.

The UNICEF delegation praised Punjab’s initiatives, including the “Haya and Bahadur” animated series and the “Good Touch, Bad Touch” campaign, which educates children about personal safety. The Punjab Home Department plans to integrate this awareness into early-grade education, aiming to protect children from abuse and exploitation.
