LAHORE: A meeting focused on the Suthra Punjab initiative was held at the Civil Secretariat, chaired by Minister for Local Government Zeeshan Rafique. According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the session included Secretary Local Government Zaid Bin Maqsood, Focal Person for Suthra Punjab Asim Mehmood, and Additional Secretary Mehreen Faheem Abbasi. Managing Directors from District Suthra Punjab Agencies joined via video link, and Director General Suthra Punjab Authority Umar Javed delivered a presentation on the geofencing process.

Minister Rafique announced that the geofencing of door-to-door waste collection operations is nearing completion, which is expected to address service delivery complaints. He emphasized the importance of organizing operations at the union council level for improved service. The geomapping data will be integrated into the digital monitoring system of Suthra Punjab. Rafique directed the swift arrangement of waste collection announcements via megaphones on loader rickshaws and called for banners displaying workers’ and monitors’ contact information in each Beat. This measure aims to facilitate public communication with officials regarding complaints. He highlighted the need for teamwork to enhance Suthra Punjab’s capacity and instructed MDs and Tehsil Managers to conduct daily Beat visits. Rafique also stressed that disciplinary measures should extend beyond field workers to include officers for inadequate performance. The meeting also reviewed proposals for an anti-littering and public awareness campaign.
