Islamabad, On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, Pakistan’s highest-ranking officials, including President Dr. Arif Alvi, Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, and the Chiefs of the Armed Forces, have collectively reaffirmed the nation’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination, in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, President Alvi, in his message, highlighted the protracted struggle of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) over the past seventy-six years to realize their right to self-determination—a right that remains unfulfilled despite annual United Nations General Assembly resolutions affirming support for self-determination for people under foreign occupation. He criticized India’s post-August 5, 2019, maneuvers aimed at altering the demographic and political landscape of IIOJK, effectively disenfranchising the Kashmiri people.
Caretaker Prime Minister Kakar used the occasion to pay homage to the sacrifices made by Kashmiris in their enduring fight for freedom. He emphasized that the resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute must adhere to the will of its people, as prescribed by relevant UN Security Council resolutions, through a free and impartial plebiscite.
Echoing these sentiments, the Armed Forces of Pakistan, along with the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee and Services Chiefs, praised the resilience and courage of the Kashmiri people in the face of severe human rights violations and the harsh conditions imposed by the Indian occupation forces.
Caretaker Minister for Information, Broadcasting, and Parliamentary Affairs Murtaza Solangi remarked on the historical context of the Kashmir issue as one of the longest-standing items on the UN Security Council’s agenda. He stated that Pakistan’s goal remains the resolution of the Kashmir dispute AS per the desires of the Kashmiri people and in accordance with the relevant UN resolutions.
These statements from Pakistan’s leadership underscore the country’s commitment to the Kashmir cause and its call for international attention to the ongoing human rights crisis in IIOJK. The unified message on Kashmir Solidarity Day reflects Pakistan’s persistent advocacy for a just and peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute.
