Three Oil Shipments Expected in Karachi Amid Rising Global Prices

Karachi: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik convened with Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in Karachi to address the nation’s energy supply challenges and the escalating global oil prices. The officials discussed measures to ensure the availability of petroleum products and introduced emergency fuel conservation strategies to mitigate the potential economic impacts.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting highlighted the federal government’s vigilance over global energy markets, with Finance Minister Aurangzeb emphasizing the development of alternative plans to handle the financial ramifications of increasing oil costs. He projected a potential rise in the country’s monthly oil import bill by approximately $600 million if current trends persist.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik announced the anticipated arrival of three oil shipments in Karachi, aimed at stabilizing the domestic supply. He also proposed the creation of a joint dashboard with provincial authorities to supervise fuel reserves and curb hoarding activities at petrol stations. The meeting concluded with an agreement to bolster coordination between federal and provincial entities to effectively manage the evolving energy landscape.
