Srinagar, Agha Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, a National Conference leader and recent Lok Sabha elect from Srinagar, has called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the custodial death of a youth in Pulwama.
According to Kashmir Media Service, Mehdi strongly criticized the police actions and pushed for an impartial inquiry into the death of Imtiyaz Ahmed, who died under suspicious circumstances while in police custody. Ahmed was accused in a narcotics case and sustained severe injuries during interrogation, as per his family’s statements. Another individual involved is reportedly in critical condition at Base Hospital in Badami Bagh.
Mehdi emphasized the necessity of an impartial probe to clarify the events leading to Ahmed’s death and to ensure accountability and justice for the affected families.
