KARACHI: In a move aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in the education sector, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved the launch of the Facial Recognition Attendance Monitoring & Evaluation System (FRAMES). The initiative will commence on August 17, 2026, across six districts and is set to expand further in phases.

According to Chief Minister Sindh, the decision to implement FRAMES was made during a high-level meeting at the CM House, attended by senior officials including Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah and Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Hyder Shah. The system, which utilizes facial recognition technology, is designed to provide real-time verification of staff attendance, ensuring accurate and tamper-proof records even in areas with limited internet connectivity.

All teaching and non-teaching staff in the selected districts have been registered in the system, and necessary preparations for its implementation have been completed. Schools have been geo-tagged to facilitate the process, and the system will monitor the arrival and departure times of teachers and staff.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has described the initiative as a significant reform in educational governance, emphasizing the critical role of teacher attendance in improving educational outcomes. He has instructed the School Education Department to ensure effective implementation and support during the rollout phase. The initiative is part of the Sindh government’s broader agenda to leverage technology for improved governance and public service delivery.

Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah highlighted that FRAMES represents a major milestone in Sindh’s education reforms, enabling data-driven governance and better service delivery. Extensive groundwork, including staff registration and system testing, has been completed to ensure a smooth commencement on August 17. Once operational in the initial districts, the system will be gradually extended to all districts in Sindh.
