Islamabad: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has reiterated Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, as articulated in his message on Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir, observed on August 5. Sadiq emphasized the significance of this day, which marks the annulment of Articles 370 and 35-A by India, actions he described as undermining the fundamental rights of the Kashmiri people and in violation of United Nations Security Council resolutions.

According to the National Assembly of Pakistan, Sadiq reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to advocating for the Kashmiri cause at all regional and international forums. He highlighted the unity of the Pakistani state and its people in supporting Kashmiris over the past 78 years, despite internal political differences. Sadiq also condemned India’s actions on August 5, 2019, as unlawful and aimed at altering the demographic composition of the region and eroding the identity of the Kashmiri people.

Sadiq stressed the importance of resolving the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in line with UN Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people for lasting peace and stability in South Asia. He called on the international community to address human rights violations in the region and the restrictions imposed on Kashmiri leadership.

Furthermore, Sadiq noted the active role of Pakistan’s Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir in bringing attention to the issue on an international scale. He stated that Kashmir Exploitation Day serves as a reminder that the identity and aspirations of a nation cannot be suppressed through force.

Deputy Speaker National Assembly Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah echoed Sadiq’s sentiments, emphasizing the long-standing nature of the Kashmir dispute on the United Nations agenda. Shah praised the resilience and sacrifices of the Kashmiri people in their ongoing struggle and reaffirmed the Pakistani Parliament’s solidarity with the Kashmiri cause.
