Karachi: Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani emphasized the critical role of a robust automotive industry in driving employment, engineering capabilities, and technology transfer during his address at the Pakistan International Auto Show Gala Dinner. The event, organized by the Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM), took place on Saturday at a local hotel and celebrated the achievements of the sector’s contributors.

According to Senate of Pakistan, Gilani highlighted the broader impact of the automotive industry, stating that it supports not only vehicle production but also a network of domestic suppliers. He congratulated award winners, noting that their accomplishments reflect the resilience and innovative potential of Pakistan’s automotive and engineering sectors. He acknowledged the significant investment, technical learning, and hard work demonstrated by entrepreneurs, engineers, and technicians.

Gilani outlined challenges faced by the industry, including access to inputs, financing, market changes, and policy predictability, urging for constructive engagement between industry leaders, government, and Parliament. He emphasized the importance of industry growth in relation to the country’s manufacturing economy and highlighted Parliament’s role in fostering dialogue and contributing to a conducive environment for sustainable economic activity.

Discussing Pakistan’s geographical advantages, Gilani encouraged the industry to explore international markets and emphasized investing in human capital, recognizing engineers, technicians, and graduates as vital assets. He concluded by expressing hope that the event would inspire ambition and partnerships within the industry.

PAAPAM Chairman Usman Aslam Malik and event organizer Syed Nabeel Hashmi also addressed the gathering. The gala concluded with Gilani distributing awards to industry achievers.
