ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani has described the newly launched Retailer Scheme as a significant opportunity for traders to engage in their national responsibilities while contributing to economic growth. Addressing a follow-up meeting on the Small Shopkeepers Scheme at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Headquarters, Kayani emphasized the scheme’s potential to simplify participation for small retailers.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Retailer Scheme is designed to be the simplest in the nation’s history, featuring straightforward registration processes, flexible payment options, and a customized operational framework aimed at easing compliance for small businesses. FBR Chairman Rashid Mahmood Langrial, also present at the meeting, noted that small shopkeepers could demonstrate legal compliance by paying a one percent turnover tax. Langrial assured traders of maximum facilitation, stating that registered green plates would protect them from unnecessary scrutiny by tax authorities. However, he cautioned that traders who do not cooperate would face strict legal consequences.
