KARACHI: The Prime Minister’s Task Force on Maritime Reforms has announced a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing aquaculture, ensuring food security, and boosting exports. The efforts include the establishment of modern aquaculture farms in Gharo, located in the Thatta district of Sindh, where species such as Tilapia and Pangasius are being cultivated using advanced techniques.
According to Radio Pakistan, a notable development in this initiative is the establishment of Pakistan’s first all-male freshwater giant prawn hatchery. This project has been realized through a collaboration between local enterprise Pak Gharo and the Malaysian company GK Aqua Sdn Bhd. These measures are part of a broader strategy to modernize Pakistan’s aquaculture sector and drive economic growth through increased exports.
