Birmingham, Residents of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) have been grappling with the challenges of what is described as “Hindutva colonialism” since 1947, when Indian troops entered Srinagar, reportedly against the aspirations and desires of the local population, international laws, and the subcontinent’s partition plan.
According to a news release by Kashmir Media Service, A report disseminated today by Kashmir Media Service detailed the Indian government’s actions, particularly highlighting the decision by the Modi-led Hindutva administration on August 5, 2019, to repeal Article 370, viewing it as a progression towards further colonization of the region. This move was identified as aligning with the aspirations of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and associated Hindutva entities.
The report emphasized the consistent introduction of new legislation by the Modi administration since August 2019 to streamline domicile acquisition and land rights for non-Kashmiri Hindus, which it suggests is aimed at altering the demographic composition of IIOJK. It further asserted that various strategies, including violence, are employed by India to supplant local inhabitants with outsiders.
The report also highlighted historical violence, noting significant events in 1947 and deaths attributed to Indian troops from 1989 to September 2023. Additionally, it underscored the Modi administration’s land acquisition strategies, indicating collaborations with Indian businesses and drawing parallels with Israeli policies.
Although the people of the occupied territories experience significant adversity, particularly post-August 2019, the report emphasized their unwavering commitment to their quest for self-determination. It concluded with an appeal to the global community to acknowledge and address India’s activities in IIOJK, which it claims infringe on UN resolutions.
