Rallies held in AJK to pay homage to Maqbool Butt, Afzal Guru

Muzaffarabad, February 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):Rallies were held in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, today, to pay homage to prominent Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru, on their martyrdom anniversaries. A rally was taken out from Afzal Guru Chowk to Srinagar Highway in Muzaffarabad under the auspices of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir. The participants of the rally carried banners and placards containing the photos of the two martyrs and words of praise in their honour. They shouted slogans in favour of Kashmir martyrs including Hurriyat leaders Syed Ali Gilani, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone, Burhan Wani, Maqbool Butt and Afzal Guru.

Addressing the participants, the speakers including Pasban-e-Hurriyat Chairman Uzair Ahmad Ghazali, Hurriyat leader Mushtaqul Islam, Usman Ali Hashim, Muhammad Ishaq Shaheen, Muhammad Fayaz, Faisal Farooq, Alf Deen Dar, Khawaja Muhammad Pervez and Syed Mahmood Shah said the Kashmiri martyrs are the real heroes of Kashmiris. They said the two great sons of Kashmir accepted to go to the gallows for freedom from the Indian colonial occupation but did not bow before India’s worst oppressive imperialism.

The speakers said India should know that the Kashmiri people will never allow the blood of their martyrs to go waste and will continue their struggle for securing their right to self-determination till complete success. Another rally was organized by the student wing of Democratic Hurriyat Front in Jhelum Valley to pay tributes to Muhammad Maqbool Butt, Muhammad Afzal Guru, and other Kashmiri martyrs. The participants with banner and placards in their hands raised high-pitched slogans against India and in favour of Kashmir freedom movement.

A rally was also organized under the auspices of Tehreek Shabab Muslim in Jammu and Kashmir in Muzaffarabad. In addition to the leaders of all political, religious and social organizations of Muzaffarabad, a large number of people of different schools of thought participated in the event held at the Municipal Hall, Upper Adda. AJK Senior Minister Khawaja Farooq Ahmed was the chief guest. Speakers said that Kashmiris will continue their struggle till freedom from Indian domination. Meanwhile, the Chairman of United Jihad Council, Syed Salahuddin, addressing a meeting in Muzaffarabad also paid homage to Muhammad Afzal Guru. He termed the execution of Afzal Guru by India as judicial murder.
