Lahore: Punjab is set to host its inaugural International Conference on Sustainable, Smart and Climate-Resilient Water Systems in Lahore in March 2027. The three-day event will be organized in collaboration with Punjab WASA, Al-Jazari Water Academy, UNICEF, Aagahi, Welthungerhilfe, and other development partners.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the conference will feature international researchers and experts, along with representatives from public and private sector institutions, educational institutions, NGOs, and other stakeholders. Various sessions will cover topics such as water supply, sanitation, environment, water governance, and public health. Both local and international researchers will present their findings, with the deadline for paper submissions set for October 15, 2026.

A special panel comprising members from the Government of Punjab and Al-Jazari Water Academy will review the submitted research papers. This panel, consisting of experts from the water and sanitation sector, will evaluate the papers based on established criteria. Following the conference, a comprehensive research journal will be published, summarizing research findings, discussions, and recommendations.

The primary goals of the conference are to promote research in water, sanitation, and environmental sectors, facilitate knowledge sharing, and provide a platform for collaboration among local and international experts. The event also aims to enhance the development of the water and sanitation sector in Punjab by adopting sustainable and climate-resilient approaches.
