Lahore: The Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has successfully apprehended a mobile snatcher who had been terrorizing citizens by stealing mobile phones and escaping on a motorcycle. This arrest was facilitated by the vigilant monitoring of PSCA’s Safe City Virtual Patrol Officer using advanced surveillance technology.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab announcement issued on 09 July 2024, the apprehended individual was involved in multiple incidents of mobile theft, targeting unsuspecting citizens throughout the city. Utilizing a sophisticated network of cameras, the Virtual Patrol Officer was able to track down and identify the snatcher based on video footage showing the criminal in action.
The footage displayed the accused engaging in rapid thefts, snatching mobile phones and then swiftly fleeing the scenes on his motorcycle. This prompt identification led to the quick apprehension of the suspect by PSCA, demonstrating the effectiveness of the surveillance system in tackling crime.
The PSCA has urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity immediately through the emergency helpline number 15. This initiative is part of a broader effort by PSCA to enhance public safety and ensure a secure environment for all residents in Punjab.
