Punjab Revenue Authority to Intensify Enforcement Against Tax Evasion

Lahore: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has announced plans to strengthen its enforcement actions against tax evasion and defaulters. This decision followed a review meeting focused on officers’ performance and ongoing reforms, chaired by Moazzam Iqbal Sipra, the Chairman of the PRA.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the meeting involved a thorough assessment of revenue collection across different sectors, tax targets, and the overall performance of the Authority. In addition, the effectiveness of e-invoicing, electronic monitoring, and the digital tax system was evaluated.

Chairman Sipra highlighted the importance of digital monitoring and modern technology use in achieving tax targets and enhancing revenue collection. He emphasized that reaching revenue targets and maintaining taxpayer trust are the Authority’s top priorities, as directed by the Chief Minister of Punjab. He noted that digitalization, effective enforcement, and tax base expansion are key to sustainable revenue growth.

The Chairman advised officers against unnecessary delays in resolving public complaints and limiting their work to file processing. He instructed that the monitoring of pending complaints and feedback collection mechanisms be strengthened.

Chairman Sipra also directed that digital and online facilities for taxpayers be fully accessible to reduce the need for visits to PRA offices, ensuring a 100 percent provision of these services to save taxpayers from unnecessary visits.
