Lahore, In response to a directive from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Police has dramatically increased efforts against electricity theft across the province, resulting in the registration of over 99,700 cases.
According to Punjab Police, this crackdown has led to the arrest of more than 71,600 individuals involved in such activities. The police force has completed challans for 69,500 cases and penalized approximately 17,800 offenders, imposing fines and sentences for significant losses to the national exchequer. Inspector General Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar noted that 660 officers per district are engaged in the campaign, highlighting a continued commitment to curtail the illegal practice vigorously and indiscriminately to protect the national treasury.
