Punjab Police Escalate Deportation of Illegally Residing Foreign Nationals

Lahore: The Punjab Police have intensified their campaign to deport illegally residing foreign nationals, reaching a total of 10,379 deportations across the province, including the city of Lahore. This effort is part of an ongoing initiative to ensure compliance with international deportation policies.

According to a spokesperson for the Punjab Police, more than 11,000 individuals have been relocated to holding centers, with 656 currently housed at these facilities. The province has established 51 holding centers, five of which are located in Lahore, to manage the process.

Inspector General of Punjab Police emphasized that the deportation policy aligns with international laws and aims to ensure the security of the region. The official also highlighted that human rights considerations are being maintained throughout the deportation process.

Dr. Usman Anwar, in his directives to senior police officials, called for an expedited process in the removal of illegally residing foreign nationals. The identification of these individuals is being conducted through coordinated efforts involving the Special Branch, the Counter Terrorism Department, security agencies, and intelligence-based sources.
