LAHORE: Punjab Police officers and personnel remained on high alert and performed security duties diligently during Christian prayer services at churches across the province, including Lahore.
According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem issued directives to RPOs, DPOs, and senior police officers to further enhance security at churches. He instructed supervisory officers to personally inspect security arrangements at churches and other important and sensitive locations. Additional police personnel and snipers were deployed at sensitive churches, while teams from the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force carried out effective patrolling around churches.
IG Punjab directed all deployed police officers and personnel to remain vigilant and keep a close watch on miscreant elements. He further instructed that search and sweep operations should continue around churches, Christian localities, and other sensitive locations. Abdul Kareem emphasized the role of religious scholars, the Christian community, and members of Peace Committees in promoting interfaith harmony.
