Islamabad: Ms. Misbah Khar, Advisor to the Chairman Senate of Pakistan and Ambassador to the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference, has been awarded the ‘Best Diplomat Award’ by the Government of Cambodia. This accolade recognizes her significant contribution to the successful organization and execution of the 2nd Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference in Phnom Penh.
According to Senate of Pakistan, Ms. Khar, serving as Co-Chair of the Drafting Committee, spearheaded negotiations that led to the unanimous adoption of the ISC-2 Phnom Penh Declaration by 20 Speakers of Parliament. The Declaration emphasizes the commitment of participating nations to advance peace, dialogue, and multilateral cooperation.
In a media address, Ms. Khar highlighted the fundamental aim of the ISC as a multilateral platform dedicated to resolving conflicts through dialogue, understanding, and parliamentary diplomacy. She emphasized the importance of such platforms in today’s global landscape for building trust and fostering cooperation.
Chairman Senate Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani extended his congratulations to Ms. Khar, describing the recognition as a source of pride for Pakistan. He praised her dedication, strategic input during the preparatory phase, and her effective representation of Pakistan’s vision for peace.
The Cambodian Government acknowledged Ms. Khar’s contributions as emblematic of the spirit of partnership and friendship, which were pivotal to the success of ISC-2.
