LAHORE: Provincial Minister and Chairman of the Cabinet Committee for Disaster Management, Khawaja Salman Rafique, visited the Provincial Emergency Center at the PDMA Head Office, receiving updates on the monsoon season and river water flow. This visit underscores the province’s focus on preparedness and implementing robust flood prevention strategies.
According to the Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Rafique emphasized the administration’s commitment to making Punjab safe from floods, aligned with the Chief Minister’s vision. Current water flow in rivers remains normal, with emergency response teams fully prepared, equipped with modern equipment worth billions of rupees. Pre- and post-disaster strategies are being enhanced to effectively mitigate flood risks. Efforts by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) this year surpass those of the previous year.
DG PDMA Muhammad Saif Anwar Jappa confirmed ongoing monitoring of the monsoon season and river water levels. Tarbela Dam is currently at full capacity, while Mangla Dam is at 78 percent capacity.
