Lahore: Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif recently visited the Tyren Wisdom Dairy Company in Xinjiang, China, and participated in a Business and Investment Conference in Guiyang, highlighting Punjab as a potential economic partner for China. These initiatives aim to foster collaboration in dairy processing and attract Chinese investment to Punjab’s economic sectors.

According to the Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s visit to the Tyren Wisdom Dairy Works included a comprehensive tour of the company’s facilities, where she received briefings on the milk processing stages and various dairy product preparations. The chief minister emphasized the successful implementation of projects aimed at enhancing the livestock sector in Punjab and expressed interest in establishing a milk and dairy processing project in collaboration with China.

The Business and Investment Conference in Guiyang, held in collaboration with the government of Punjab and China’s Guizhou province, saw participation from senior officials of leading Chinese companies. Provincial Minister for Agriculture Ashiq Kirmani represented Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif at the event, where he highlighted Punjab’s investment-friendly environment and strategic location. He underscored Punjab’s economic strengths, including a GDP of $253 billion, a significant consumer market, and a robust manufacturing base.

Ashiq Kirmani presented Punjab’s Special Economic Zones as attractive options for Chinese investors, offering incentives such as duty-free facilities and tax exemptions. The minister noted that Punjab’s strategic location, extensive road network, and proximity to China position it as a potential regional trade hub. Initiatives such as the PIVOT programme aim to enhance workforce skills and create jobs, while investment in infrastructure and regulatory frameworks seeks to establish a conducive business environment.

The conference concluded with Chinese companies expressing interest in transferring production facilities and technical expertise to Punjab, reflecting the province’s potential as a manufacturing hub for China.
