Lahore: An important meeting was held at the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department, chaired by Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique. According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mehmood attended the meeting, alongside Special Secretary (Development) Ahmed Kamal Maan, Additional Secretary (Administration) Khadijatul Kubra, Senior Planning Officer Fatima Noreen, and other officials. Participating via video link were the Executive Director of the Sahiwal Institute of Cardiology, Professor Akhtar; the Medical Superintendent (MS) of General Hospital Murree, Dr. Qaiser Abbasi; and representatives from the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology.

During the meeting, Provincial Health Minister Rafique conducted a detailed review of the administrative affairs and performance of the Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Centre, Murree, and the Sahiwal Institute of Cardiology. The current status of medical equipment and human resources was assessed to ensure the provision of top-tier medical facilities in Punjab’s cardiac hospitals. Relevant officials provided a briefing on the progress made so far.

Rafique stated that, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, state-of-the-art cardiac care is being provided to patients suffering from heart diseases. The Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Center is serving as a treatment facility for Murree and its surrounding areas, with modern machinery procured for the hospital, including a fully functional Cath Lab. Similarly, the Sahiwal Institute of Cardiology is also providing medical care to patients. He emphasized that the objective of establishing cardiac hospitals across the province is to ensure that patients with heart conditions have access to medical care within their local areas.

Punjab Health Secretary Azmat Mahmood noted that measures including the procurement of medical equipment, the deployment of human resources, and other initiatives are being taken to ensure the delivery of medical care in Punjab’s cardiac hospitals. Efforts are being made to ensure the treatment and care of patients at these facilities.
