Ahsan Iqbal Proposes Political Corridors to Enhance Pakistan-China Relations

ISLAMABAD: Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal has proposed the establishment of five political corridors between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and Pakistani political parties, including initiatives such as youth exchanges, to enhance long-term strategic partnerships. Speaking at the “Symposium on Xi Jinping Thought on Party Building” in Islamabad, he highlighted the potential for Pakistani parties to learn from the CPC’s focus on public service and national planning.

According to Radio Pakistan, Iqbal emphasized the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s dedication to embedding principles of public welfare, self-reform, and organizational discipline within Pakistan’s democratic framework. He noted that development efforts should transcend electoral timelines to ensure sustainable national growth. The proposed corridors aim to support and enhance existing economic cooperation, specifically through strategic dialogue, governance learning, youth development, cultural exchanges, and regional peace initiatives.

Iqbal proposed reciprocal programs for young leaders from both countries, starting with a cohort next year, and suggested learning opportunities at China’s Central Party School. He also extended congratulations to President Xi Jinping and the CPC on the recent conclusion of the Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee, underscoring the importance of lasting leadership legacies.
