LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed immediate attention to resolving drainage and sewerage issues in the province’s villages while also ordering the beautification and paving of village streets. This directive was part of a comprehensive review of the Model Village Project, which aims to improve infrastructure in over 3,500 villages across Punjab.

According to Chief Minister of Punjab, the meeting involved a detailed briefing on the progress of ongoing projects related to sewerage, drainage, and street paving. Sharif approved the introduction of community-based organizations to facilitate the Model Village Project and decided to involve assistant commissioners, community health mobilizers, Union Council secretaries, headmasters, and other stakeholders in rural development initiatives.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to assign members of the provincial assembly the responsibility of monitoring these projects. Chief Minister Sharif emphasized that resolving drainage and sewerage issues is a government obligation, asserting that rural residents have an equal right to public resources. The chief minister expressed a personal commitment to transforming every village through the Model Village Project.
