Protest Rallies Held to Highlight Kashmir Black Day

Muzaffarabad: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and worldwide observed Black Day on Tuesday to highlight the ongoing issues related to the Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. The day marks the anniversary of the 1947 Indian troops’ entry into the region, which remains a point of contention.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the date commemorates the events of 1947 when Indian forces entered Jammu and Kashmir, contravening the partition plan and the desires of the Kashmiri population. The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called for a complete shutdown in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and urged global intervention to resolve the dispute in line with UN resolutions.

In Azad Jammu and Kashmir, protests, rallies, and seminars were organized across all districts and tehsil headquarters. These events condemned the Indian military’s actions in 1947 and the subsequent revocation of IIOJK’s special status. In Muzaffarabad, the state capital, a protest demonstration was led by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell, followed by an anti-India rally.

Prime Minister AJK Raja Faisal Mumtaz Rathore and other speakers at the demonstration paid tributes to Kashmiri martyrs and reiterated the demand for the region’s freedom and integration into Pakistan. They also called for the United Nations to enforce its resolutions regarding Kashmir. The protest concluded with a rally from Burhan Wani Chowk to the United Nations Observer Mission office, where a memorandum was submitted.
