Lahore: A Procurement Committee has been established for the Dadocha Dam Surface Water Treatment Plant and Water Supply System project, aiming to ensure transparent and efficient procurement, as outlined by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The committee’s formation was directed by Secretary Housing Punjab Noor-ul-Amin Mengal.

According to Directorate General Public Relation – Govt of Punjab, the committee is tasked with overseeing the tendering and bidding process to align with the rules and regulations, ensuring no compromise is made on merit and eligibility. The notification specifies that the committee will approve eligibility criteria and bidding documents according to applicable standards and evaluate tenders based on PPRA Rules.

The notification details that transparency will be maintained in the project’s technical and financial aspects. The committee will be led by the Project Director, PMU, with members including the Superintending Engineer PHED Rawalpindi Circle and the Deputy Director P&D, Punjab WASA. The committee is responsible for supervising all significant procurement stages under applicable regulations.

The Dadocha Dam project, with an estimated cost of Rs36 billion, is designed to supply 35 million gallons of clean water daily to Rawalpindi residents upon completion. The Housing Department spokesperson emphasized that the project will adhere to the principles of merit, eligibility, transparency, and quality construction as envisioned by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
