Islamabad: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the passing of His Highness Prince Karim Al-Hussaini Agha Khan IV, the 49th Imam of the Ismaili community, extending condolences to his family and followers worldwide. Prince Karim, a prominent spiritual leader and philanthropist, was noted for his service to humanity and his impactful initiatives in education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation.
According to a statement by Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prince Karim was a unifying figure, recognized for his significant contributions in the realm of global development. As the founder of the world’s largest private international development organization, he dedicated his life to uplifting the underprivileged and vulnerable populations, transcending barriers of race, gender, ethnicity, and religion.
The statement also highlighted Prince Karim’s deep connections with Pakistan, commending his role in the development of the nation and recalling the contributions of his grandfather, Sultan Mohammed Shah Agha Khan, and his father, Prince Aly Khan, to Pakistan’s independence movement and diplomatic representation at the United Nations.
The Ministry expressed the nation’s heartfelt sympathy to the Ismaili community during this period of mourning, acknowledging the late Imam’s lasting legacy and influence across the world.
