ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended his congratulations to Barrister Iftikhar Gilani following his election as Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Sharif expressed optimism that Gilani would contribute positively to the region’s development and the welfare of its populace.

According to Radio Pakistan, Sharif attributed the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s recent victory in Azad Jammu and Kashmir to the efforts of the party leadership, including Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, and the dedication of its workers. The Prime Minister assured that the federal government would persist in providing all necessary support for the advancement and prosperity of Azad Kashmir and improve the living conditions for its residents.

Shehbaz Sharif also recognized the continuation of the democratic process in Azad Jammu and Kashmir as a favorable development.
