Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Directs Relief Efforts Amid Heavy Rains


ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the utilization of all available resources to provide assistance and relief to those affected by recent heavy rains. He emphasized the importance of effective coordination among provincial departments and relevant authorities to ensure the efficient delivery of aid.



According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister’s directives followed a meeting with Chairman of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Lieutenant General Inam Haider Malik, in Islamabad. The meeting focused on the ongoing monsoon season, with Shehbaz Sharif urging the NDMA to work closely with Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs) to address challenges posed by the weather conditions.



The Prime Minister also called for strengthened coordination to maintain traffic flow on link roads and bridges during the rains, facilitating the transport of relief supplies. The NDMA Chairman noted that prior preparations, as directed by the Prime Minister, have enabled better monitoring and response to the monsoon’s impact. Lieutenant General Malik briefed the Prime Minister on expected trends and preparedness measures being coordinated across provinces and departments to mitigate the effects of the rains.
