Bishkek: The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, met with the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in Bishkek. The leaders discussed the progress and cooperation between their countries across various sectors.
According to Press Information Department, both leaders expressed contentment with the current state of Pakistan-Belarus relations. They focused on cooperation in political, trade, economic, defense, and cultural fields. The meeting also revisited President Lukashenko’s visit to Pakistan in November 2024 and Prime Minister Sharif’s visit to Belarus in April 2025, with both leaders agreeing to prioritize trade, industry, agriculture, IT, and vocational training for enhanced cooperation.
Prime Minister Sharif, as the incoming Chair of the SCO Council of Heads of State, invited President Lukashenko to visit Pakistan next year. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to strengthening the friendly ties between their nations.
