Pakistan’s President Honors Kashmiri Leader Geelani on Fifth Death Anniversary


Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan commemorated the fifth death anniversary of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, a prominent Kashmiri leader, recognizing his unwavering dedication to the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.



According to Press Information Department, Geelani’s life was marked by enduring commitment to the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, despite facing imprisonment and house arrest. His well-known declaration, “Hum Pakistani Hain, Pakistan Hamara Hai,” underscores his connection to Pakistan and advocacy for the Kashmiri cause.



President Zardari highlighted Geelani’s legacy of resilience and sacrifice, stating that it will continue to inspire future generations. Pakistan reiterates its support for the Kashmiri people in their pursuit of self-determination, in line with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.
