ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to eliminating child labour as the world observes the World Day Against Child Labour. This annual event aims to spotlight the necessary global efforts to eradicate child labour, with this year’s theme being “Red card to child labour: Fair play for children, decent work for adults.”
According to Radio Pakistan, both leaders conveyed their dedication to this cause in separate messages, emphasizing the country’s resolve to protect its children from exploitation. President Zardari stated that Pakistan aligns with the international community to ensure every child grows up in safety and has the opportunity to attend school. Prime Minister Sharif highlighted the government’s comprehensive strategy to eradicate child labour and called for collective efforts from employers, workers, parents, teachers, civil society, religious leaders, media, and the private sector to support the government’s initiative in safeguarding children’s rights.
