President and Prime Minister Commend Pakistan Navy on Navy Day

KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have expressed their congratulations to the officers, sailors, and civilians of the Pakistan Navy on Pakistan Navy Day. They both articulated their confidence in the Navy’s ability to maintain its longstanding traditions of courage and distinction in the performance of its duties.

According to Radio Pakistan, President Zardari highlighted the Pakistan Navy’s Operation SOMNATH as a significant historical event, reflecting the Navy’s bravery and commitment. This operation against the Indian naval coastal station Dwarka during the 1965 war is remembered for its display of valor and its foundational role in strengthening Pakistan’s maritime defense capabilities.

Prime Minister Sharif emphasized that September 8 serves as a powerful reminder of the Navy’s valor and resilience, as demonstrated during the 1965 war. He noted that during the Marka-e-Haq last year, the Pakistan Navy exhibited the same level of preparedness and spirit, effectively deterring any potential aggression by a numerically superior adversary at sea.
