Srinagar, In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), posters have emerged across various regions, calling for public advocacy for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute based on the right to self-determination, as promised in a United Nations resolution dated January 5, 1949.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the posters, displayed by pro-freedom organizations in the Islamabad district, highlight the ongoing atrocities and demographic changes enforced by the BJP government in the territory. The posters, bearing slogans like “Go India Go Back,” urge the local population to voice their opposition to human rights violations and political injustices in IIOJK.
In addition, several Hurriyat organizations have appealed to the international community, particularly the United Nations, to fulfill its long-standing commitment to the right to self-determination for the Kashmiri people. These organizations emphasize the
UN’s responsibility to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with its resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, a commitment made 75 years ago.
The appearance of these posters and the calls for international intervention reflect the continued unrest and desire for resolution in the disputed region of Kashmir. The ongoing situation in IIOJK remains a point of contention and a significant issue in South Asian geopolitics, drawing attention to the need for a peaceful and fair resolution in line with international agreements and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
