Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing its relationship with Iran through mutually beneficial cooperation across various areas of shared interest. This reaffirmation was made during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, who was on an official visit to Islamabad.
According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining regular high-level exchanges to bolster bilateral relations. He welcomed Seyyed Abbas Araghchi on his inaugural visit to Pakistan as Iran’s Foreign Minister and extended sincere regards and well-wishes to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and President Massoud Pezeshkian.
The meeting also addressed the concerning situation in the Middle East. Prime Minister Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people’s legitimate struggle for self-determination and statehood, expressing grave concern over Israel’s continued actions against Palestinians.
Prime Minister Sharif called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the provision of unhindered humanitarian aid, and the recognition of the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination, as endorsed by relevant UN and OIC resolutions. Moreover, he condemned Israel’s recent attack on Iran, reaffirming Pakistan’s support for Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Iranian Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s principled stance and provided insights into Iran’s viewpoint on the ongoing regional situation.
