Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued directives to streamline and expedite Pakistan’s export processes, emphasizing that strengthening exports is crucial for the country’s economic growth. He highlighted the need to include a wider range of sectors in export activities and advocated for modern technology and innovation in these industries.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister chaired a review meeting in Islamabad to discuss the country’s export strategy. During the meeting, he stressed that Pakistan should aim to diversify its export sectors and ensure that the quality of its products meets international standards. Special focus was placed on value addition to enhance the competitiveness and market value of Pakistani goods globally.
The Prime Minister called for the removal of administrative and business-related barriers that hinder exporters, suggesting that the export process should be more transparent and efficient. The meeting reviewed proposals to access new international markets, improve product quality, and facilitate business operations.
The meeting also discussed ongoing efforts to finalize free trade agreements and preferential trade agreements with several countries to expand the global reach of Pakistani products. Additionally, measures are being taken to include horticultural products in the country’s export portfolio and to encourage exporters to participate in international tenders for surgical and medical equipment.
