ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have arrested 54 individuals as part of a comprehensive crackdown on criminal activities, according to a press release from Islamabad Capital Police. The operations, directed by Inspector General of Police Captain (Retd) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry, aim to reduce crime and ensure the safety of citizens.

According to Islamabad Capital Police, the arrests include 46 individuals wanted for various serious offenses, such as court absconders and proclaimed offenders. Additionally, eight suspects were detained for drug-related offenses and illegal weapon possession. The police seized 785 grams of crystal meth, 200 grams of hashish, 41 bottles of liquor, one gun, and two pistols with ammunition from those arrested. Legal proceedings have been initiated, and investigations continue.

The operations also involved extensive search and combing efforts in multiple areas, supervised by zonal SPs. Authorities checked 150 individuals, 72 houses, 17 shops, six hotels, 137 motorcycles, and 50 vehicles. Eight suspicious persons and 14 motorcycles were taken to police stations for verification. One suspect was arrested for illegal weapon possession, resulting in the recovery of a rifle and ammunition.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Ali Waseem affirmed the department’s commitment to safeguarding citizens and eradicating criminal elements in the capital. He highlighted the “No to Weapon” campaign targeting illegal weapons and emphasized the importance of community cooperation in reporting suspicious activities to enhance public safety.
