Peaceful solution of Kashmir dispute stressed to end woes

Srinagar, June 28, 2021 (PPI-OT): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have stressed the need for resolution of the Kashmir dispute through talks to end Kashmiris’ miseries and pave the way for lasting peace in South Asia. Chairman of Kashmir Freedom Front (KFF) Syed Bashir Andrabi in a statement issued in Srinagar, right from 1947 under the Indian occupation, Kashmiris are suffering from worst type of human rights; their religious and political rights are being trampled. He said the genuine voice of Kashmir for the right to self-determination is being curbed by force.

Denouncing the arrest of youth, nocturnal raids, and suppression of aspirations of people by dint of force, Bashir Andrabi stated that such draconian steps would not break the resolve and will of people for freedom. Terming Kashmiris as the basic party to the dispute, he said the Kashmir conflict cannot be settled without engaging the legitimate stakeholders. He said, “As per the UN resolutions Pakistan is a key stakeholder in the Kashmir problem and it is naïve to think that any conflict resolution process can yield results without the proper involvement of key stakeholders”.

He said that Kashmir was neither a regional, nor a boundary issue, it is an issue which involves the political future of people. He said pro-freedom leadership was united towards the cause as well as taking it to its logical conclusion. Syed Bashir Andrabi paid rich tributes to the martyrs of Kashmir, adding, these sacrifices are precious assets of our ongoing peaceful movement and no such sacrifice will be allowed to go waste.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party in a statement said that in order to stop the violence and bloodshed in the disputed Jammu and Kashmir, it is necessary to take the path of dialogue so that this long standing human and political conflict can be resolved according to the will of the people living here. The party spokesman said that the political belief of Shabbir Shah is also based on the fact that issues can be resolved through dialogue.

“Then there is the history of conflicts for those who lose their lives in this furnace of violence. It is better to find a way to resolve the conflict than to shed crocodile tears over the loss of innocent human lives,” it added. “The freedom-loving people appeal to the institutions of justice all over the world to persuade New Delhi to abandon the path of confrontation and find a way out of it, and the only way to do that is to take steps to create a favourable environment,” he added.
