Islamabad: On World Heritage Day, Federal Minister for National Heritage and Culture Division, Aurangzeb Khan Khichi, emphasized the significance of preserving cultural heritage for future generations. In a message to the nation, Khichi highlighted the global recognition of this cause by UNESCO and extended greetings to those involved in protecting the shared human legacy.
According to Press Information Department, Khichi noted Pakistan’s extensive heritage, which reflects its historical depth and cultural vibrancy. He pointed out that the country’s heritage ranges from ancient civilizations, such as the Indus Valley Civilization, to architectural marvels from the Islamic and Mughal periods. This diverse heritage is seen as a source of national pride and identity.
Khichi called on various stakeholders, including government bodies, provincial authorities, and communities, to collaborate in safeguarding Pakistan’s heritage. He emphasized that sustainable preservation efforts present opportunities for tourism, education, and socio-economic development. He also assured that the heritage departments are dedicated to using modern techniques and professional expertise in the management of World Heritage sites.
The minister concluded by urging a collective commitment to ensuring that Pakistan’s cultural heritage is preserved and passed on to future generations.
