Karachi: In a consultative session at the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) in Karachi, Minister of State for Finance, Bilal Azhar Kiyani, emphasized the government’s commitment to partnering with the private sector to enhance national prosperity. The session included trade bodies, chambers, and industry associations, contributing to an ongoing dialogue to improve coordination between the public and private sectors before the federal budget.
According to Press Information Department, the minister highlighted the business community’s role in Pakistan’s economy, noting their contributions to tax revenue, employment, and industrial growth. He confirmed that the government is incorporating stakeholder feedback into its budgetary planning for the next fiscal year, aligning policy priorities with the needs of productive sectors.
The government’s achievements in stabilizing the macroeconomic environment over the past two years were also noted, providing a foundation for future tax rationalization and relief measures. Efforts to mitigate global economic volatility and protect against energy price spikes were emphasized.
The session also addressed the government’s long-term predictability goals, including a five-year National Tariff Policy and reforms in the Federal Board of Revenue. These initiatives aim to simplify customs structures and enhance business operations through digitization. Updates on the Roshan Digital Account expansion and assurances about net-metering contracts were shared.
The minister concluded by reiterating the government’s vision for inclusive growth, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration with the business community to achieve sustainable economic success.
