Pakistan’s Port System Undergoes Comprehensive Modern Reforms

Karachi: Pakistan’s port system has embarked on a significant transformation with the introduction of modern reforms and digitalization initiatives, spearheaded by the Prime Minister’s Maritime Reforms Task Force. These efforts mark the first time a comprehensive strategy has been employed for the development of the country’s ports, aiming to enhance efficiency and transparency.

According to Radio Pakistan, a uniform port tariff system has been established as part of this strategy, fostering increased competition and transparency in port operations. Additionally, the implementation of the Pakistan Single Window and Faceless Customs Assessment systems has significantly reduced cargo clearance times from fifty-three hours to eighteen hours, streamlining processes and promoting efficiency within the port sector.
