Pakistan’s IT Sector Gains Momentum with Export Growth and International Engagement

Islamabad: Pakistan’s IT sector is making significant strides on the global stage, marked by an increase in export remittances and a surge in digital business activity. Over the past fiscal year, the country saw a 19.7 percent rise in ICT export remittances, reflecting the industry’s expanding international reach.

According to Radio Pakistan, this growth has been accompanied by a notable increase in the establishment of IT and IT services companies. A total of 872 new firms were registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), signaling a robust entrepreneurial spirit within the sector. In addition to domestic advancements, over twenty Pakistani companies recently showcased their capabilities at an international exhibition in Saudi Arabia, further establishing the country’s presence in the global IT market.

The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) has been instrumental in these developments, actively promoting the IT sector, digital economy, and investment opportunities. The council’s efforts are seen as a driving force behind the sector’s rapid emergence and its increasing contribution to Pakistan’s economic landscape.
