Pakistani-Americans Celebrated at NYPD’s First ‘Pakistan Heritage and Resolution Month’

Islamabad, In a historic event held at the New York Police Department (NYPD) headquarters, Pakistani-Americans’ contributions were highlighted during the first-ever ‘Pakistan Heritage and Resolution Month,’ showcasing the deepening relationship between Pakistan and the United States. Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, emphasized the significant role of Pakistani-Americans in various sectors, marking their increasing visibility and exceptional performance as a testament to the robust ties between the two nations.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the ceremony saw the participation of notable figures including New York City Mayor Eric L. Adams, NYPD’s First Deputy Commissioner Tania O. Kinsella, Chief of NYPD Jeffrey B. Maddrey, and U.S. District Judge of New Jersey Zahid Qureshi, among others. Ambassador Masood Khan, serving as the Chief Guest, addressed a packed audience, celebrating the achievements and integration of Pakistani officers within the world’s largest police department.

This groundbreaking event, organized by the Pakistani American Law Enforcement Society (PALS) and the Consulate of Pakistan in New York, aimed to commemorate Pakistan’s heritage and acknowledge the service of Pakistani officers to the NYPD. Ambassador Khan praised PALS for strengthening the bond between Pakistani-American youth and U.S. law enforcement agencies, fostering a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and mutual understanding.

The celebration, coinciding with the eve of Pakistan Day, underscored the long-standing Pak-US relationship and the critical role of the Pakistani-American community, numbering one million, as a bridge between the two countries. Mayor Adams and other speakers paid tribute to the dedication and professional excellence of Pakistani NYPD officers, committing ongoing support for the Pakistani community’s endeavors.

The event also featured the presentation of awards to various officers for their outstanding service, with Ambassador Khan expressing his best wishes for NYPD and the PALS team’s future endeavors. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting noted that the presence of over 600 police officers of Pakistani descent in the NYPD and approximately 1000 across the United States is a source of immense pride for Pakistan and its diaspora.
