Islamabad: Pakistan has reiterated its demand that the Afghan Taliban regime ensure Afghan soil is not utilized for terrorism against Pakistan, asserting its right to self-defense if commitments are not honored. According to Radio Pakistan, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry emphasized this stance during an interview with Arab News.

General Chaudhry stated that Pakistan’s primary request from Afghanistan is to prevent the use of its territory for terrorist activities, and warned that failure to address this could prompt Pakistan to take necessary actions. He highlighted concerns about the non-inclusive nature of the Taliban regime, which he claims continues to support and harbor terrorist groups.

The DG ISPR noted that a significant portion of suicide bombers involved in attacks on Pakistan are of Afghan nationality and identified an ongoing issue with Afghan nationals attempting to infiltrate Pakistan for terrorist purposes. He also commented on the situation in Balochistan, asserting that local terrorists lack public support and aim to impose their ideology forcibly, with the objective of keeping the province underdeveloped.

General Chaudhry also accused India of sponsoring terrorism and conducting social media campaigns against Pakistan. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s uncompromising stance on negotiating with terrorists, stating that the country does not engage in dialogue with them but instead takes decisive action.

On the subject of regional security, the DG ISPR assured that Pakistan maintains strong ties with Saudi Arabia, reaffirming its commitment to the security of the Harmain Sharifain and adherence to defense agreements with the kingdom. He highlighted the continuous communication between Pakistani and Saudi leadership, emphasizing an unwavering bond rooted in shared history and mutual defense commitments.
