Islamabad, With only a week remaining for the stipulated deadline, the repatriation of illegal foreign nationals, notably Afghans, back to their countries is ongoing. The government has issued a clear directive for all undocumented foreign nationals, which includes a significant number of Afghans, to leave Pakistan by the end of this month. Failure to do so will prompt action from law enforcement agencies in line with the country’s regulations.
According to a news release by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, voluntary repatriation efforts have been in place for Afghans residing unlawfully in Pakistan, and these have been ongoing daily. As per the most recent data available, 2,716 Afghans, utilizing 84 vehicles, made their journey back to Afghanistan just yesterday. The exit points facilitating their return include the Torkham and Chaman borders. To date, an impressive figure of 64,795 undocumented Afghan nationals have successfully been repatriated. This ongoing effort, aiming to ensure the return of all illegal Afghan residents, is anticipated to bring about a positive shift in the regional dynamics.
