Islamabad: Pakistan has set an ambitious target to transform its economy into a $1 trillion powerhouse by 2035, according to Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Minister Ahsan Iqbal. The minister emphasized the importance of translating economic stability into sustained growth during a discussion with Harvard Business School MBA students.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ahsan Iqbal introduced the ‘URAAN Pakistan’ framework, focusing on five key areas, to the visiting delegation in Islamabad. He pointed out the nation’s young population, strategic geographical position, abundant resources, and emerging digital economy as pillars supporting this economic transformation.

The minister detailed that the country would concentrate on enhancing Productivity, Quality, and Innovation (PQI) to improve the global reputation of products labeled “Made in Pakistan.” Building technological capabilities in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing, while incorporating climate resilience into economic planning, were highlighted as critical steps in this journey.

In discussing international cooperation, Ahsan Iqbal described the upcoming second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. This phase is set to prioritize industrial cooperation, technology transfer, agriculture, exports, and fostering business partnerships.

He concluded by emphasizing the need for policy continuity and increased private-sector involvement to achieve sustained transformation. The minister also extended an invitation to the students to consider returning to Pakistan as investors, entrepreneurs, and partners in the country’s economic advancement.
