New York: Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Türkiye have pledged to enhance their collaboration to foster peace and security in the Middle East. The commitment was made during a meeting of the countries’ Foreign Ministers on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Ministers discussed recent regional and international developments, emphasizing the necessity of dialogue and diplomacy for achieving long-lasting resolutions. They highlighted the importance of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding as a framework for enduring peace and stability.

The Ministers condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, voicing strong support for the kingdom’s sovereignty and right to self-defense under international law and the UN Charter. They also underscored the significance of maritime navigation safety and expressed backing for Yemen’s legitimate government and its Presidential Leadership Council.

Additionally, the Ministers reiterated support for Palestinian rights, advocating for an independent State of Palestine based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. They also expressed solidarity with Sudan, emphasizing the need to stop the illicit movement of weapons and fighters into the country.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to continue coordination on regional and international issues to bolster collective security and foster regional stability.
