New York: Pakistan has reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity during a United Nations Security Council meeting. The announcement was made by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, highlighting the country’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security and prosperity.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Ahmad made these remarks at a Security Council Arria Formula meeting focused on “Safe Seas, Shared Security: Protecting Freedom of Navigation in an Evolving Security Environment.” During the meeting, he condemned the attacks by the Houthi militia on merchant ships and seafarers in the Bab al-Mandab Strait, emphasizing the global implications of such actions.

Ambassador Ahmad stressed that disruptions in the Bab al-Mandab and the Strait of Hormuz pose significant threats to global peace, stability, and critical areas such as energy and food security. He called for an immediate de-escalation of tensions, urging for the security of ships and crew members, and the restoration of normal maritime passage through these strategic waterways.
